My name is Nia Skye.
Three years ago, my life changed forever. I lost my husband — my partner, my support, the father of my children. In a single moment, I went from being a wife to a grieving widow, left to raise our two young children alone.
My son is 7. My daughter is 5. They don’t fully understand why their father never came home… but they feel his absence every single day.
Since then, every day has been a fight — to stay strong, to provide, to keep a roof over our heads, and to give them some sense of normal childhood despite the pain we carry.
I never had the chance to pursue a full education, but I held onto one thing I love: making people smile through food. I took culinary and baking classes when I was younger, and nothing brings me more joy than making ice cream and treats for children — especially my own.
When my kids laugh over a scoop of ice cream, for a moment… the pain fades.
That’s why I’m holding onto a dream — to open a small ice cream shop in Florida. Not just as a business, but as a lifeline. A way to stand on my own feet. A way to provide stability, safety, and a future for my children.
But right now, I can’t do it alone. 
I’m trying to raise $40,000 to secure a small location, basic equipment, and get started. This isn’t about luxury — it’s about survival, independence, and giving my children a chance at a better life.
As a widow with no family support, the weight is heavy. There are days I don’t know how I’ll make it through — but I keep going because my children need me.
