Help Put a Desk Between a Child and a Hard, Uncertain Future
In Laikipia, Kenya, more than 2,000 children are reportedly attending school without proper desks, with some forced to sit on jagged stones while trying to learn.
For a child, something as simple as a desk can make an enormous difference.
Imagine trying to write your name, solve a mathematics problem, or read a textbook while sitting on a rough stone. Imagine doing it every school day.
We believe children deserve better.
The Poverty Alleviation Program (PAP), a community-benefit organization working to address poverty through humanitarian and infrastructure initiatives, is launching Desks for Dreams to help provide safe, sturdy desks to children who need them most.
Our 10-member team is raising funds for 300 locally made double desks, giving 600 children a proper place to sit, write, read, and learn.
Our Goal: 300 Double Desks
Each locally made wooden double desk costs approximately:
KES 6,500 — about US$50
One desk can provide a comfortable learning space for two children.
Our goal is to raise approximately:

We don’t want a child’s education limited because they don’t have a proper place to sit.
