📌 About Me – Stanley Michael Khonya
My name is Stanley Michael Khonya, a proud Malawian originally from Thyolo District, now living in the Mulanje District along the majestic slopes of Mulanje Mountain. I’ve always believed that when we empower a community, we empower generations. I have seen firsthand how hope and opportunity can transform lives when people come together for a shared cause.
💧 My Previous Community Work
In 2021, I led a project in Chitengu Village that was funded by the late Dr. Paul Searle of AquAid Water Coolers UK. That initiative addressed a critical water crisis by helping us drill a borehole, bringing safe, clean water to hundreds of villagers who had been struggling to access it daily.
But we didn’t stop there.
We also launched an entrepreneurship program, offering:
Interest-free loans
Small business training
Flexible repayment terms (6+ installments)
This model helped dozens of local families start small businesses, grow incomes, and gain financial independence—all without the burden of high-interest debt. It was proof that small actions can lead to big change.
🚸 Why We Urgently Need a Nursery School
Now, in Abita Village, the need is different—but equally urgent. Here, young children have no access to a nursery or preschool.
📍 There is no existing early childhood facility in or near Abita.
📍 Families are too poor to build classrooms on their own.
📍 Many children are left at home, unattended, while parents work.
📍 Others walk long distances—some more than 5 km—just to find basic education.
This situation puts children at risk and robs them of the early education that is so vital to their future. Early childhood learning lays the foundation for life—social skills, creativity, basic reading, and emotional growth. Without it, these children start school late and behind.
As a community member and father myself, I cannot look away.
🧱 Our Vision – What We Want to Build
We are launching this campaign to raise funds to build a nursery school in Abita Village. Our goal is to provide:
✅ 1–2 safe, simple classrooms
✅ Local construction jobs for villagers
✅ Toilets and clean water for hygiene
✅ Chalkboards, mats, and learning supplies
✅ A safe space where children can learn, play, and thrive
We will work with local volunteers, bricklayers, and community elders to ensure transparency, quality, and impact. Every dollar raised will go directly toward this mission.
