In Mbita Kenya, thousands of elderly men and women wake up every day with empty hands and empty stomachs. Many have outlived their children or been left behind as younger generations migrate to cities in search of work. They face hunger, isolation, and the painful loss of dignity that comes from depending entirely on others.
But a quiet revolution is beginning — led by the elderly themselves.
We are forming “Pools” — small, self-organized groups of 15 elderly members who come together to support one another. These Pools are more than meetings; they are families of choice, places of mutual care and shared purpose.
The Solution: Poultry for Every Pool
With your help, we equip each Pool with 150 day-old chicks — 10 birds per member.
Cost: Just $10 per chicken. Total per Pool: $1,500
