EcoPlast Arusha: Turning Waste into Value

EcoPlast Arusha: Turning Waste into Value
1. Executive Summary

EcoPlast Arusha is an innovative environmental and social enterprise based in Arusha, Tanzania, focused on collecting and recycling plastic waste into valuable, sustainable products such as eco-bricks and paving blocks. The project addresses the growing problem of plastic pollution while creating employment opportunities for youth and promoting a circular economy.

We are seeking funding support to establish a fully functional plastic recycling center, purchase essential machinery, and scale community-based waste collection systems. With your support, EcoPlast Arusha will transform environmental waste into economic opportunity and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

2. Problem Statement

Plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges in urban and peri-urban areas of Tanzania. In Arusha:

Large volumes of plastic waste are improperly disposed of.
Drainage systems are frequently blocked, leading to flooding and sanitation issues.
Burning plastic contributes to air pollution and health risks.
There is limited access to structured recycling systems.

Without intervention, plastic waste will continue to harm the environment and public health.

3. Our Solution

EcoPlast Arusha provides a sustainable solution through:

Collection of plastic waste from communities, schools, markets, and businesses
Sorting and cleaning of recyclable plastics
Processing plastics into eco-bricks and construction materials
