My name is Mwema Shaban Mwema. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (BIT).
But around me, I see a painful reality. Many young people in my community finish school with zero computer skills. They have never touched a laptop. They don't know how to type, search for a job online, or even send an email.
This is not because they are not smart. It is because they are poor. A computer costs more than their family earns in months.
I want to change that. For free.
My plan:
I want to open a small, free computer lab in my neighborhood. I will personally teach:
Basic computer operation (Windows, typing, files)
Internet safety and online job searching
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Introduction to coding and freelancing platforms
I already have the BIT degree. I already have the teaching skills. The only thing missing is the equipment.
If we raise more than the goal, I will buy more computers and enroll more students.
Who will benefit?
At least 50 young people (ages 12–25) from poor families in Babati-Manyara, Tanzania. Many are school dropouts or children of single parents, daily laborers, or small farmers.
Why should you trust me?
1. I have a verified BIT degree
2. I will post photos of every purchase (computers, internet setup, room)
3. I will post monthly updates showing students learning
4. You can contact me directly through GoFundMe with any question
5. This is not charity for me. I am not asking for money for rent, food, or my own needs. Every single dollar buys a computer, internet, or a chair for a poor student.
How you can help:
Donate any amount – even $10 buys one month of internet for all students
Share this campaign with 3 friends who believe in education
Pray or send good wishes – we need all the support we can get
Thank you for reading. Together, we can turn one IT degree into 50 future IT graduates.
With hope and gratitude,
Mwema Shaban Mwema
