Help Us Give Hope to the Forgotten 💔

💔 A Voice from Mozambique: Help Us Give Hope to the Forgotten 💔

Dear kindhearted friend,

I write this message with a heavy heart, but also with hope—hope that somewhere in the world, someone like you will hear our cry.

My name is Charles Patrick Navaga, and I live in Mozambique, a country in Southern Africa where too many children suffer in silence. I am the Ambassador and Founder of Wiwanana African Organisation, a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization committed to supporting orphans and vulnerable children who have been left behind by society.

Every child deserves a chance—Wiwanana African Organisation is bringing hope to those left behind.

Every day, we witness pain that most people only read about in stories. Children as young as 3 or 4 years old wander through villages with torn clothes and empty stomachs. Some have lost their parents to illness. Others have been abandoned, left in the care of aging grandparents or no one at all. They live in crumbling shelters, sleep on bare ground, and often go days without a proper meal.

💧 Some children cry themselves to sleep from hunger.
🩺 Others suffer from preventable diseases but have no access to medical care.
📚 Many want to learn—but there are no books, no shoes, no school uniforms, and sometimes, no schools.

Despite these heartbreaking realities, we at Wiwanana African Organisation do not give up. We wake up each morning determined to do what we can—to feed, to clothe, to educate, and to heal. With limited resources, we are running community outreach, education programs, basic healthcare initiatives, food and nutrition support, clothing distributions, and efforts to provide safe housing and shelter for the most at-risk children.

But we cannot continue this mission alone.

We are reaching out with open hands and open hearts—asking for your support, your compassion, and your partnership.

We are not asking for profit.
We are not asking for luxury.
We are asking for survival.

These children dream of learning—your support can keep them in school and out of poverty

We need people who care to stand with us. Your help can do incredible things:

  • A $13 donation can feed a child for a week.

  • A $25 donation can buy school supplies or clothing.

  • A $50 donation can fund basic medical care for several children.

  • A $100 donation can help repair a shelter or build a safer sleeping space.

Please—don’t look away. These children are not numbers. They are real. They have names. They dream of becoming teachers, nurses, musicians, and scientists. They dream of peace, love, and security.

The Harsh Reality of Childhood in Mozambique

In many parts of Africa, childhood is not what it should be. There are no swings in the park. No bedtime stories. No birthdays with balloons and cake. Instead, many children are born into a reality of suffering—especially in rural regions and impoverished communities like ours.

In Mozambique, over 60% of the population lives in extreme poverty. Access to clean water, electricity, and healthcare is rare. Education is often seen as a luxury, not a right. And for orphans, the situation is even more dire.

Some children are orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Others lose their parents to malaria, malnutrition, or war-related trauma. Many are abandoned—left in the care of aging grandparents, or worse, left to fend for themselves on the streets. In urban areas, children are exposed to drugs, crime, abuse, and exploitation. In rural areas, they suffer quietly from isolation, starvation, and a complete lack of opportunity.

Some of these children sleep under plastic sheets in open fields. Some dig through trash for food. Some walk miles barefoot just to fetch water. And some simply don’t survive.

Our Work: A Lifeline for the Forgotten

At Wiwanana African Organisation, we have committed ourselves to stand in the gap for these children. We do not have much—but we give everything we can. Our mission is built around five urgent pillars of care:

Mozambique is not alone. Across Africa, millions of children are in crisis.
The need is overwhelming. The suffering is real. But we believe in hope. Please Donate.
  • Education – We help children access schools, pay for uniforms, books, and basic learning tools. We believe education is the foundation of change.

  • Healthcare – We assist in getting medical support for sick and malnourished children and run community awareness on hygiene and health practices.

  • Nutrition – We provide food to families and children facing severe hunger. A simple meal can mean the difference between life and death.

  • Clothing & Shelter – We offer basic clothing, bedding, and support for families to repair or construct safe housing.

  • Emotional Support – For children who have suffered abuse or loss, we try to restore hope through mentorship, play, and consistent care.

Our resources are limited. We don’t have big offices or corporate sponsors. We rely on kind hearts around the world—people like you—to help us carry this burden.

Why We Need Your Help

While we work tirelessly, the truth is we cannot do this alone. Every week, we are contacted by more families and children in desperate need. Every month, we are forced to turn away some because we simply don’t have enough food, supplies, or funding.

The need is overwhelming. The suffering is real. But we believe in hope.

With your help, we can give them a chance.

If your organization, business, or community is looking for a trustworthy and transparent partnership in Africa, we invite you to learn more about our work. We are open to collaborations, sponsorships, donations, volunteer partnerships, or simply those who want to offer encouragement.

💔 Sad, but True: The Hidden Suffering of Africa’s Children

1. Over 52 million orphans live in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Many of them have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, or conflict. Most receive no formal support and live in extreme poverty.

2. Mozambique has one of the highest child mortality rates in the world.

Roughly 1 in 10 children die before their fifth birthday, often from preventable causes like diarrhea, malaria, pneumonia, or malnutrition.

3. Nearly half of Mozambique’s population is under the age of 18.

This means millions of children are growing up in a country where access to food, healthcare, and education is severely limited.

4. Children walk up to 10 kilometers daily just to fetch water.

In many villages, children—especially girls—must walk long distances to collect water, often from dirty or contaminated sources. This keeps them out of school and puts them at risk of abuse.

5. One in two girls in Mozambique is married before the age of 18.

Child marriage is common due to poverty. Many girls are married off in exchange for a dowry or simply because families cannot afford to feed them.

6. An estimated 43% of Mozambican children under age 5 are stunted.

Stunting is caused by chronic malnutrition and leads to irreversible physical and mental damage. These children will never reach their full potential.

7. Millions of children sleep without shelter.

In rural areas and urban slums, many children sleep on the ground or in makeshift huts made from plastic and sticks. They are vulnerable to harsh weather, mosquitoes, and sexual abuse.

8. Over 2 million Mozambicans are displaced by natural disasters.

Floods, cyclones, and droughts—made worse by climate change—have destroyed homes and livelihoods. Children are often the first to suffer during these crises.

9. Less than 40% of Mozambican children complete primary school.

Many children drop out to work, care for sick family members, or simply because their families cannot afford basic school supplies or uniforms.

10. Street children are exposed to drug addiction, crime, and violence.

With no adult protection, orphaned children in cities often fall into gangs, are trafficked, or turn to begging and stealing to survive.
