MÁS DE UN AÑO ESPERANDO SU CIRUGIA – OVER A YEAR WAITING FOR SURGERY

Hola!

OVER A YEAR WAITING FOR SURGERY

Hello,

My mother is 64 years old. When she was just 36, she had her first surgery to receive a prosthesis. My grandfather—an incredible man—sold his land to pay for that operation so she wouldn’t be confined to a wheelchair.

Now, after more than 25 years, her prosthesis needs to be replaced, as is medically necessary every 20 to 25 years. This time, we tried to go through the public healthcare system, but she has been waiting for over a year just to be called for surgery. At this point, it feels like that call may never come.

The cost of this surgery is far beyond what we can afford on our own. Meanwhile, her condition is getting worse every day. She is losing mobility—she can no longer climb onto a bus, and the situation is even more difficult because she has prostheses in both hips and one knee. The delay in replacing the prosthesis is now putting additional strain on her remaining knee.

She lives in constant, intense pain. Even the tramadol prescribed to her no longer provides relief.

Despite everything, she remains incredibly strong and brave. No matter how much she is suffering, she always keeps a smile on her face, just as you can see ☺

I don’t know what else to do to help her.

Please, I’m asking from the bottom of my heart—help us. ♥
