The Wandering Child Reform Initiative (WCRI) is a registered, child-focused, non-governmental, and non-profit organization based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Established in response to the severe crisis of child neglect, abuse, street wandering, and systemic injustices, WCRI is dedicated to protecting the rights and future of vulnerable and wandering children.

Years of Boko Haram insurgency and continued insecurity have displaced thousands of children, leaving them without access to education, healthcare, stable shelter, or family support. Many face abuse, exploitation, trauma, and extreme poverty.

Our mission is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can reach their full potential. We do this by empowering caregivers, engaging communities, advocating for child well-being, and promoting child protection and development.

Key areas we address include:

Child Protection and Advocacy: Rescuing children from abuse, neglect, and violence while promoting policies that safeguard their rights and dignity.

Education and Learning Support: Helping out-of-school and at-risk children access quality education to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability.

Health, Nutrition, GBV and Psychosocial Support: Providing essential health services, nutrition, emotional care, and trauma counseling.

Shelter and Basic Needs Support: Ensuring safe housing and meeting the basic needs of wandering and displaced children.

Vocational Training and Skills Development: Equipping older children and youth with practical skills to promote self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

Inclusion of Physically Challenged and Special Needs Children: Ensuring equal access to education and care while eliminating stigma.

Emergency Response and Humanitarian Assistance: Delivering urgent relief to children and families affected by conflict and disaster.

Our impact so far includes:

Literacy and numeracy training for Almajiri children.

Distribution of essential hygiene kits, shoes, and educational materials.

Child empowerment outreach reaching hundreds of vulnerable children with skills training and motivation.

Despite our commitment and success with self-funded projects, our reach is limited by funding constraints. We are therefore seeking your support to help us raise the funds needed to expand these vital services.

Your contribution will directly help us:

Enroll more conflict-affected children in school.

Provide essential health and nutritional support.

Offer safe shelter and basic necessities.

Deliver psychosocial support to heal trauma.

Equip youth with practical vocational skills for self-reliance.

By partnering with WCRI, you will be joining a mission-driven, community-rooted initiative with a proven record of transparency, compliance, and impact. Together, we can protect children’s rights, reduce child poverty, and build a more just and hopeful future for the most vulnerable in Borno State.

We welcome donations, partnerships, or technical support from individuals, donor organizations, foundations, NGOs, companies, and government agencies.
