Meet Walter: A Cultural Ambassador from Acornhoek
Mr. Walter Sibuyi is an art teacher at Shobiyana Secondary School in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga—and a globally recognised arts educator. In 2023, he made history as the sole African delegate among 72 teachers from 27 countries at the Global Art Teachers Exchange (GATE) in Budapest, Hungary. He was so impactful that he was featured on the official event banner.
✉️ Official Endorsement
GATE Director Robyn Zellar confirms in her letter (22 April 2026):
“It was so lovely having him join us at AISB GATE in Budapest, and I know everyone would love to create and collaborate with him again!”
“GATE is fast becoming THE premiere art educators’ professional development event… reaching full capacity with attendees from 42 countries.”
